Actress. Born on December 8, 1953, in Athens, Georgia, educated at Neighborhood Playhouse. Sensual, full-lipped, gorgeous blonde star of Hollywood films of the 80's. The daughter of a financier and a former model, she took up dancing at age two and later pursued singing, using the alias Chelsea. At 17, she left her hometown for New York, where she studied drama and posed for Playboy. She then began modeling and soon reached the top echelons of that profession. In 1977 she began appearing in TV series and movies, including a plum role in the small-screen version of From Here to Eternity. She made her feature debut in 1981 and thanks to her stunning good looks and some convincing performances, rapidly soared to stardom. A vegetarian and environmentalist, she made headlines in 1989 when she bought an entire town in Georgia not far from her birthplace. She also appeared in the news when she lost a multi-million dollar lawsuit filed against her for backing out of an agreement to star in the controversial Boxing Helena, the story of a woman whose limbs are amputated by her love-obsessed captor. Married actor Alec Baldwin, with whom she appeared in The Marrying Man and The Getaway.
