I sent a picture about 1997 or so to Mr.Garcia, along with a letter. The letter had been invited by the actor, as he wanted to dispense advice to one of the "lucky" of us chosen by him for a reply. Well, okay, I thought, I might get something decent out of this - Andy strikes me as a nice enough guy with something of a head on his shoulders, something I definitely did NOT grow up with.

The picture was of me and my best friend of 25 years; she had been literally my right hand, my maid of honor, my partner in crime, and I've never, and never will, have anyone - not even family - who knew me as well. She killed herself shortly after I sent the letter. I had seen it coming - for about 8 years, she spoke of how "easy it would be to put a gun to her head and shut everything off". I finally became so frustrated that I told her I would not speak to her anymore until she appreciated my role in her life. I guess that my role wasn't a strong enough one to keep her around, and believe me, I have to live with that.

Anyway, the picture was the very last one of her and me together, and I only sent it to illustrate the point I was trying to make to Mr.Garcia. As it was, when I sent him the letter, I had been nearly killed in an auto accident, and nobody knew about it - at least I think they didn't know, since I was in the hospital a week and I saw noone.

Nobody knows where this picture is. Nobody will even talk to me, especially not this girl's parents, who seem sure that I "abandoned" their daughter. Maybe I did. Maybe I deserve nothing. It doesn't, however, make it any less painful for me. I am lost, and I feel like a shadow in this world.

If anybody knows anything about this, please...... I need to believe in life again. I can't go on thinking that maybe I should have died in that accident, because I will never get well if I do. A picture doesn't "disappear". Somebody has it. It means nothing to you - but so much to me.
I need to know where it is.

IT IS PROPOSED THAT THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES (OAS) WOULD MAKE THE FOLLOWING PROPOSALS TO CUBA AND TO USA:

ˇ THE OAS WOULD PROPOSE CUBA TO PERFORM A FREE ELECTION PROCESS. SUCH PROCESS WOULD START WITH A PLEBISCITE CONDUCTED UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED OBSERVERS.

ˇ ONCE SUCH PLEBISCITE IS PERFORMED, AND THE CONDITIONS DESCRIBED BELOW ARE MET, USA WOULD SUSPEND THE EMBARGO, AND CUBA WOULD BE GRANTED ITS REINTEGRATION TO THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES.

THIS PROPOSAL WILL BE PRESENTED BY ONE OR MORE MEMBER COUNTRIES OF THE OAS, TO BE APPROVED BY MAJORITY IN THE SUMMIT OF THE AMERICAS, ON 20-22 APRIL 2001 IN QUEBEC, CANADA ..

THE OAS WOULD ELECT AN INTERIM GOVERNING BODY INTEGRATED BY SIX REPRESENTATIVES ELECTED AMONG CUBAN LEADERS BASED ON THEIR APTITUDE AND TRAYECTORY, IN ORDER TO ALLOW SUFFICIENT TIME FOR NEW CANDIDATES AND PARTIES TO PRESENT THEIR PROPOSALS TO THE CUBAN PEOPLE, TO PERFORM THE NEW ELECTION AFTER 180 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THE PLEBISCITE.

Tuve el placer de encontrarme con Andy recientemente en un restaurante en Bucarest. Lo saludé como cubano y me respondio en un perfecto "cubano"con una amabilidad que me dejo perplejo.Sigue siendo un ser humano.
