I became more aware of The Tibetan cause and have even looked at the Budhist faith with admiration and interest since you have brought it into public awareness. Dear Mr Gere, Sure did admire your "wilderness voice" position at the benefit at Madison sq. Garden on 10/20. Its sad that any perspective that doesn't appear to play directly into the common and widespread national themes of vengeance and retribution are considered as anti patriot or apologist rhetoric. I would guess that, a real "primal fear" has been tapped into on the national level because of the atrocity of 9/11/. The causal effects of this frightening event have caused a closing of the aperture of what is considered "patriotically correct" Fox news anchor Bill O"Reilly ran a clip of the sour reception you elicited at the Madison sq. gdn. event. not partic. flattering . Iam wondering if you would be willing to appear with a gentleman named Norman Solomon on O'Reilly's show? he appeared on C--span on 10/15/01. he is the exec. dir. for a think tank clearinghouse called the Institute for Public Accuracy. his message in my opinion, is moderate in scope and humanitarian in spirit in regards to the imminent famine in Afghanistan. he withstood much vitriolic invective hurled at him by call-in combatants. It was a remarkable display of discipline that his responses were dignified and respectful in the face of such slings and arrows. by honoring the sentiment but not answering in kind to the aggression he advances the content of his message. in todays tinderbox climate we need more voices like his. I am trying to get him an appearance on O"Reilly's show but i am just a little guy w/ no clout. after seeing you on 10/20 i wondered if you too might be interested in appearing w/ Norman thus lending a little more celeb. momentum thank you for your time

On a recent radio program a tape was played of Mr. Gere's comments to a crowd of New York Police and Firefighters. He said something to the effect that now was not a time to be angry or vengeful towards the evil men who are responsible for blowing up the World Trade Center and attacking D.C. He was promptly and appropriately booed of the stage. He is no hero, he is no genus, he is merely an actor. He needs to stick to what he knows acting not U.S. Policies.

Mr. Gere I have been having a fear of leaving home, I get sick physically and I shake as if I was cold my muscels go as far to contract if it gets real bad. I have been fighting this for a year now. And I will not let the Doctors put me on drugs.

I was wondering if your religion has some meditation or something? I know its all mental but I don't know how to fix it. This only happens at night but its not a good way to have to live your life. If you know of any help.
