Actor. Born in 1964, in Beirut, Lebanon, to an English mother and a father of Chinese-Hawaiian descent. Almond-eyed strapping young lead of Hollywood films from the late 80's. Raised in Australia and in New York before moving to Canada, he attended Toronto's High School for the Performing Arts and received further acting training at the Second City. Following a summer of apprenticeship at the Hedgecrow Theater in Pennsylvania, he made his professional debut in a local Toronto TV show. On the screen he often portrayed problematic or goofy youngsters, most effectively in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989), which established him as a popular teen attraction. Rather than continue as a window dressing, Reeves undertook a provocative role in Gus Van Sant's moody picture of gay street hustlers, My Own Private Idaho (1991) opposite his real-life friend River Phoenix. Their presence in the film played a large part in the film's financing. He continued to move away from his teen image in such films as Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) and Much Ado About Nothing (1993).
