Actor. Born Carlos Irwin Estevez, on September 3, 1965, in Los Angeles. Athletic, wholesome leading man of Hollywood films. The son of actor Martin Sheen, and younger brother of actor Emilio Estevez, he got his first taste of show business at age nine, as an extra in the TV movie The Execution of Private Slovik (1974), starring his father. He also appeared as an extra alongside his father in the feature Apocalypse Now (1979) but his true early ambition was to become a professional baseball player. Only after a poor attendance record at high school had prevented him from taking advantage of an athletic scholarship from the University of Kansas did he begin to consider acting seriously. He was among Hollywood's most popular and busiest young stars in the late 80's and early 90's. Sheen writes comically volatile poetry, a proposed book of which made the rounds in bootlegged versions in the early 90's. His work remains unpublished. He wrote, produced and directed a 35mm short, R>P.G. II.
