Actress. Born on June 19, 1954, in Springfield, Missouri, educated at Missouri State University, University of Maryland, Central School of Speech and Drama, London. Sensual, husky-voiced, authoritative screen lead. After training in the daytime soap opera "The Doctors", she established herself as a screen femme fatale in the noir-influenced thriller Body Heat and displayed an able flair for light comedy (Romancing the Stone, The Jewel of the Nile) and dark Prizzi's Honor, The War of the Roses. Her roles in the 90's have largely lacked the easy depth and spark of her previous major performances. Nominated for an Academy Award for her subtle performance as a settled woman who reexperiences her teenage life in Peggy Sue Got Married.
